Babylonia areolata is a species of marine gastropod mollusc in the family Babyloniidae. Also known as Japanese Babylon Shells, they are common in the southwest Pacific and parts of the Indian Ocean and marked by large, well-defined brown/orange spots.
These ones are sized at approximately 2 - 3cm. They are small sized with an opening of approximately 1cm and therefore more likely to be suited to the smaller hermit crabs such as the orange leg or 'rock' hermit crabs.
Hermit crabs regularly change their shells as they grow, and some will prefer a certain type of shell over others, therefore it's a good idea to have a selection of shells available of varying shapes and sizes.
