Halymenia Durvillei (Dragons Breath) Macroalgae

Dragon's Breath macroalgae (Halymenia durvillei) is a vibrant, red and fiery-orange marine algae prized in saltwater and reef aquarium setups for both its appearance and biological utility.

Appearance can be branchy, ribbon-like or ruffled red fronds with luminescent orange tips that glow brightly under blue or LED aquarium lighting.

Its colouration is vibrant red with orange-red edges, varying depending upon the light it is under.

This macroalgae can attach itself to rocks, substrate, or other surfaces if water flow allows it to settle.

Lighting - Thrives under moderate-to-strong, full-spectrum lighting that highlights its red-orange coloration.

Flow - Moderate to high water movement helps prevent detritus from settling on its fine branches.

Palatability - Most grazing fish and herbivores will feast on this macroalgae, they seem to find it quite tasty!

It has a dense structure which offers great hiding space for beneficial hitchhikers like copepods and rotifers.

You will receive a small cutting of this macroalgae similar in size to that in the photo with the 50 pence piece being for scale.

Dispatch days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only, as this will be sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24, any orders placed on or after a  Thursday, will be dispatched the following Monday.

Macroalgae should be acclimatised in the same way as you would with fish and corals.
